about

Bio:

Shelly Lightnin’ - the sweet angelic voice who is currently a sensation in the Reggae music industry. Shelly has worked with artists such as Bobby Woods, Basil Gabbidon, Milton Godfrey, Alvin Davis, Dennis Walks, Bencil, Sugar Minott, Tony Tuff and other artists.

Shelly opened for Sandra Cross, John Mclean, Aswad and Aleighcia Scott; also making an appearance at SimmerDown Festival.

Empress Shelly Lightnin’ was born in Birmingham, moved to Tamworth at an early age, then migrated to Jamaica with her family, where she grew up.

Classically taught under the tutiledge of Mrs Bryan, she achieved her London Royal Academy of Music grades and her love for the art form, took on renewed passion, when she attended Montego Bay High School; joining the band, and further becoming one of the founding members of the Jamaica Orchestra of Youth.

Shelly cleverly incorporates her deep rooted Jamaican vibrations whilst intertwining hints of Jazz, World Music, Lovers, Ska & Rock, yet still keeps it authentically Reggae in flavour. This differentiates ‘The Empress’ as one who will definitely unleash some hits, so watch this space!
